They both here. Ms FoodNetwork and the baby. It was a long day yesterday (especially for the two of them) but they both looked utterly adorable when they arrived. BabyFood was dressed in an adorable Japanese inspired outfit we'd purchased. Ms FoodNetwork was glamorous in a black frock and very stylish coat, like she just stepped out of a fashion magazine not like she'd been through the wringer with two long plane rides and a difficult connection.
We fed both of them then headed into the city. Ms FoodNetwork met with an agency social worker for her advisement meeting. It seemed to go really well and we were grateful the agency folks were understanding about the travel snafus and were able to meet with her later than planned (even thought it was a holiday weekend for them).
I'm not sure how it works in other states but here mothers who are doing an adoption plan are required to meet with social workers at least twice and it can't be on the same day. The first meeting is called an advisement meeting and basically the social worker spends an hour or two alone with the mother/expectant mom and explains the process, her rights, answers any questions, etc. Then at least one day later (and at least 3 days after the birth of the baby) there is another meeting called the relinquishment meeting (isn't that horrible language?). We'll do that meeting at our consultant's house on Sunday.
After our city appointment we drove across the Golden Gate bridge. It was a spectacular day here yesterday and was great fun to show off our cities to Ms FoodNetwork. We spent a few hours at our consultant's house, eating cupcakes and passing the baby around.
Then we came home. Let me say that again. We ALL came home.
It was such a happy night here I can't even begin to find words. In a lot of respects it was a very normal night for us. We ordered pizza. We watched tv. We ate said pizza in front of said tv. We had ice cream for dessert.
And the mister and I took turns getting up with our daughter all night. Just a totally normal night for us. ;)
Ahh, those "up at nights". Wonderful isn't it ? Those beautiful little faces lit up by the nite lite. So absolutely perfect. Oh, Millie, I'm all choked up reading your post.
We are headed into your city today to watch baseball (the husband is a Cleveland fan) and I'll be thinking about you the whole time. Here's to another lovely day for ALL of you.

I read this.... and then I read it aloud to Ron... and I burst into tears.... and my precious baby X says "don't cry mommy"... so now I get to tell him that there are happy tears... and he doesn't understand! So in his 2 year old understanding he thinks I have to stop looking at the computer 'cause it's making mommy cry!
I'm sooooo so happy for you guys!

I think that's the first time you typed "daughter." Chills here too. Can it be Sunday yet? Hoping and praying everything continues to go well. My thoughts are with Ms. Food Network right now too. I'm sure the journey wasn't just physically taxing.

YAY! I am so happy you are able to be up all night with your daughter! Isn't it wonderful! And totally normal! :) Looks like it is different in every state. MD did not allow the BM to sign the rel. papers until 10 days after the advisement mtg.
