Five years ago today, I married the love of my life. It really was a perfect day. I can't believe it's been five years.
Four years ago I didn't have a blog to record any of my feelings. We spent the weekend in Mendocino at a friend's cottage. There was a lot of champagne, a lot of hot tubbing and a lot of laughter. We were still hopeful. The result of that weekend was my first ectopic pregnancy. An extra-bitter person would say to herself, "See where hope takes you?"
Three years ago I had recently been to Garden State for the first time and the pain of that negative cycle was fresh in my mind. The friendships cemented that cycle are what linger from that cycle. I am so looking forward to going back and getting to hang with one of my favorite people in the world and her daughter.
Two years ago we were full of hope. We were planning our South African adventure. We were sure it was going to work.
Last year we were treading water.
And this year? Well, I don't even know what to say. We're barely treading water. I'm worried that the mister doesn't have much fight left in him. He feels oh-so-broken and I just don't know what to do. It's just breaking my heart.
But today is about remembering all that beauty and wonder of five years ago. We're headed off for some time just the two of us, no crazy kittens, no fighting dogs. The mister tried to plan the most awesome surprise ever but I think that will have to wait for another night (he was sick on "reservation day" so we're wait-listed).
I am so very glad we didn't know all the pain that was in store for us five years ago. I'm so very glad we had our "special day" (that's for you, Red-Headed Momma). Mostly I'm just so very glad that we found each other.
So, sing a little Nat King Cole along with me:
L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore can
Love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart and please don't break it
Love was made for me and you
Happy anniversary!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! You two are such a solid couple and will get through whatever happens. I hope only the fewest crap things happen from here on out and that they are only tiny little bumbs in the road. Champagne wishes and caviar dreams to you both!

Happy anniversary!
It's my anniversary today, and hubby and I can't help but wonder if we shall ever have one marked by good news, instead of crap.

Hope you are having a lovely anniversary. Five years, despite all the difficulties of the past years, has been good to us.
I am sending you an email with information about Argentina, in case you need a distraction in the coming weeks.

Happy Anniversary! Did I tell you I changed my username/email? Anyway, let me know if you want to try to meet up during your trip east, or whether its just too crazy to juggle it all.

Happy anniversary to both of you!
Thank goodness indeed that we don't know what's in store. Ignorence is bliss.

A friend of mine from work ate there just a month ago and, unsurprisingly, had the most amazing meal. After a few too many glasses of wine, they asked to meet the chef and were taken back to the kitchen, which she describes as the cleanest kitchen she's ever been in. Just too cool. The closest I've ever gotten was a Michelin two-star in Vegas. Happy Anniversary.

Giant Awww!
Congratulations on five years. Wow, if you can get through the past five years together, you can get through anything. Including this *I have a good feeling about* cycle.
P.S. OMG how did he get reservations for TFL? Did he call six weeks in advance on a Tuesday or whatever it is?
