Thanks for thinking of me, enjoy your trip :) XXX

Here's to old friends inside the computer. My thoughts are with Anna H.

There's a name from the past. Regretfully, I did not come to know BHM until very late.

Maybe it is my age as well that keeps me from going into a rant anymore. I have to admit I breathed a sigh of relief when I realized it wasn't me who inserted foot into mouth b/c I do it frequently, which also may be due to age.

I applaud your yodeling pal. I would love to say more, but my I'm wearing boots today and am on a diet.

You totally described the feelings that I have grown to have w/domestic adoption, but at the same time I know there are people like your yodeling pal.

We have decided to try DI, but at the same time I don't feel very positive. Do I want to return to domestic adoption if it doesn't work? Thoughts race through the head.

Good luck w/your upcoming procedure.

So much I want to say about the domestic adoption stuff, but maybe I'll put it in an email instead. :-)

Thinking of you!

I'm glad you have a friend like yodeling friend. I have someone like that, too. Its nice to know that not "all" adoption stories have unhappy outcomes. Sometimes I feel that way, when I read only the bad stuff. Wish I could drive up to Chi-town for a little Ikea, and some Millie! Someday, I hope...

Thank you for letting us know about Anna. I have been out of touch with her for a few months and am kicking myself for it. I sent her an email but please give her my love if you speak with her.

Thanks also for sharing your thoughts on domestic adoption; it's a path that has so much going for it, but also so much uncertainty.

Thank goodness for yodeling pals.

"She's trying to get out of the yodeling place"

Heh, that has got to be one of the funniest things I've read all day. I'm also wondering where the yodeling place is, and if I can visit.

Ditto on good thoughts for Anna H.

I've never had dim sum...are they just steamed dumplings?

As someone who has a one year old because of domestic adoption I can tell you that it has been our biggest joy in life to become her parents. Her BM/BF do not want contact except for letters and pictures and while we know that we will have to face an up-hill challenge regarding that, we would do it all over (and are planning to) in a second. All kids, bio or not, come with baggage - it just comes in different forms. If your cycle does not work (and I pray it does) you should consider adoption - it is an amazing ride. Worth every step. Maggie

Thank you so much for that update on Anna :)

I'm so glad to hear that there are people out there like your yodeling friend, both because she sounds like a wonderful friend and because she shared an experience of adoption that I don't hear much about in the adoption blogging world.

I just found your blog today and it's great. You have a lot of useful information and you speak directly from the heart. Good luck on your journey.

I have been battling this too. We are in the waiitng period of domestic adoption, but that idea of the primal wound resurfaces time and again. I wonder if there is anything to it. So often I hear from adopted people (both adults and students) who say that the best thing that could have happened to them is their parents (AP). I think that when it's open and not a shameful secret (as it's been in the past), the wound isn't a wound, but a badge of honor in some cases.
I suppose I feel that if the wound is there, it won't be because of something I did, and to the contrary, I might be able to help it not feel so painful.

Great post... great friend.

Well you know what I think of it all as we talked a lot about it when we saw each other.

Many prayers going to Anna.

Hmmm, nothing to offer on the adoption thoughts, but it's interesting to think about. I never really considered the idea of "the primal wound."

Dim Sum shouldn't make you sad! Did you at least get barbecued pork buns?
