I'm really not dead yet. I'm here, just crazed. Can you believe I actually have to work most of the time these days? There is actual cutting, pasting and saving to do. How annoying!
The mister and I spent a lovely Turkey Day weekend with my family and friends in the best Carolina of them all (don't listen to Julianna about her opinons on Carolinas--she's right about most things but oh-so-wrong about this one little thing). The weather was nothing short of glorious-warm, sunny, crisp. Definitely the southern part of heaven.
There was the traditional meal. With, unfortunately, a very traditional dry turkey. One of the driest turkeys ever. Now, I really have no idea how this particular turkey got so very dry (I know it was horribly over cooked and not brined/marinated/wrapped in bacon which is my fave way to do turkey breast) except the cook turned down all offers of help from the other cooks in the house. Including the cook who taught many, many turkey and holiday cooking classes. So we all got to enjoy the very dry turkey.
To make up for that, the very next day the mister and I got to have lunch with three lovely ladies and most of their menfolk. We had some mighty fine fried chicken and much good conversation. Then they look me to mecca. Now, I thought I'd been there before but it had been years and it was in the old location. I used to spend a lot of time there, in fact. If I ever move back to NC I think I should just beg for a cot in the corner.
It was a great trip but we were so ready to get home to our comfy bed. Not that we're going to be here for long as the countdown to Thailand is officially on. We leave in 11 days. Eeeeeek.
In very good news the half-way quitting is working out quite well. I only worked 3 days this week and last week and I'm thinking of working four days next week. We'll see how it goes. We have a ton to do before we leave.
Dr Local came through with a synthroid prescription so I've been back on the juice for a little over a week. I have an appointment with Dr Endo in January and that's all ok for now. We meet with the psychologist today and the genetist just after. So things for January are rolling right along.
I got to see my friend Amie last night. We had a girls' night out at a jewelry trunk show. It was quite fab. There were pom martinis and lots of sparklies. Way too many of the sparklies ended up in my car but that's ok. Amie was touched by my post and very touched by all the nice comments. She's on the mend and perhaps soon will begin thinking about next steps. Always a hard thing, no?
I'm horribly behind on my blog reading. I hope to get all caught up, I promise. I hate how life has gotten in the way of my internet time. Hope everyone is well and even if I'm not commenting much now, I'm trying to read up. I promise to do better soon.
You do know that South Carolinians say that North Carolinians are Yankees. N.C. is not REALLY the South - hahahaha
I am so jealous that you got to see those lovely ladies - I bet y'all had a blast!
We do need to get together, I have some real bar-b-que and shrimp and grits for you. ohhhh.........how I am cracking myself up!!!
You and the mister deserved a much needed vacation with glorious weather.
Welcome Back and I hope to see you soon!

Hi sweetie, I'm glad you're back. I always miss you when you're gone. And soon you will be gone again, woe is me! Of course, this is all about me, you understand.
Glad to hear you've been having a good time, in addition to all that cutting and pasting.

Enjoy Thailand! Since you won't be taking us with you, would you at least share some pictures of the scenery?
