We all use math everyday.
If you know what that's from then you're familiar with the second sexiest mathematician around. I've still got dibs on the first.
I don't have a real update yet. Blood has been drawn, the word STAT has been written on the order and now we wait. Oh you gotta love the west coast time, right?
I couldn't wait until the call without doing a test (ok, two) on my own. I know it's not scientific but both hpts showed nice positive results. Didn't even require taking the tests apart or looking at them at some strange angle. They were both clearly positive (althought they're both only sensitive to 25 miu but even I know that 25 > 15).
I gotta say, it's mighty nice to see a positive result. I know it might not last. But it's so much better than a negative.
I decided the mister needed a bit of cheering up so I im'ed him the good news. Here's what he had to say: "actually if you figure that it doubles every two days, and it's been three, then 15 * 2 ^ (3/2) = 42. 42 is my favorite number!"
Y'all knew he was a geek, right?
I'll be back with the official number once I get it. I'm just trying to stay cautiously optimistic for now. Liana told me today that betas where icsi was used are often lower. I said between that and the jet lag my little blast must have had maybe we have a chance. Just maybe.
*****UPDATE*****
Today's post is brought to you by the number 67. For you math geeks, that's a doubling time of 33.3 hours which is ok with me. Repeat beta on Thursday.
We're nowhere near being out of the woods but if we can keep it doubling for a bit then that's better than not doubling, right?
Thanks so much for the many kind words and thoughts. It's helping me maintain my sanity. Well, what's left of it.
42 is a lovely number :) and I know exactly where that comes from. I'm crossing my fingers for you but got to tell you I've got a more than hopeful smile on my face as I wait with you with you reporting nice positive HPTs.
Waiting and hopeful for good news.

You and the mister = nerd love at its finest (and considering my taste in men, you know that's a compliment!!).
I will continue obsessively stalking this blog. Update soon! (I'm on hold with the PTO - you're really distracting me! ;))

Oh! I just checked the update. doubleplusgood!
Will you be okay till thursday? Seems a long way off.

I'm so happy for you! Your embie started off slow, but he's doing really well now.
Wouldn't that be a nice easter present?
Posted by: Bonnie | Monday, 10 April 2006 at 16:52
42 is admittedly a very cool number, but 67 blows it out of the water! I know there's still more betas needed before it all truly sinks in, but so far it all sounds wonderful, and I couldn't be happier or more excited for you!
Posted by: Ornery | Monday, 10 April 2006 at 16:59
You didn't have to test the test apart or anything? Good golly, Miss Millie, this sounds like the best news I've heard all day. Mmmmmmm, math geek from TV. *drool*

Yes!!! Mighty nice numbers you've got there!
[whispering] I didn't want to say anything earlier, but 15 can be a most wonderful starting point; my first beta with this pg was 15 and #2 was 48... now 23 weeks and counting. [/end whisper]
Remember: NBHHY. And I'm rooting for you!
Posted by: Tonya | Monday, 10 April 2006 at 18:06
